Speak of the Devil explores the same moody terrain as Chris Isaak 's previous records, though the songs are fleshed out with more contemporary touches. The leadoff track, "Please," is unusually hard-hitting, with its acoustic/electric/soft/crash structure, Mellotron, and soundbite lyrics. Chris Isaak - Speak of the Devil - CD chiaradyszimibu.suchedirevernascsuherchimesespke.co Chris Isaak rocks? Indeed. Granted, the crooner's latest is no noisy, post-grunge Nirvana (though the chord progression of the opener, "Please," recalls Kurt Cobain's "Heart-Shaped Box"), but Devil does find Isaak loosening up. His gut-busting vocals on the free-for-all title track are as near to reckless as we're ever going to hear him/5(79).

Mar 13,  · The music found on Speak Of The Devil is certainly heart warming, filled with a sense of loss or loneliness and at times embroiled with frustrations, but not in the sense that the music drags the listener into a burrow of ennui; more that that Chris notes that he’s been done wrong and then shrugs it off with swagger, creating a surfin’ rockabilly soundtrack filtering from his Woody as he sets of for the /5(44).
